An Arrangement between the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) and KHOA on Technical Cooperation regarding the IHO Service System was signed on 28 February 2018 at the IHO Secretariat in Monaco by Mr. Dong-jae Lee, Director General of KHOA, and Dr. Mathias Jonas, Secretary-General of the IHO. It further expands from the existing cooperation between the two organizations based on the Memorandum of Understanding on Support for the IHO Capacity Building Programme signed in 2006. Through the Arrangement, KHOA and the IHO agreed to cooperate in the development and provision of technical infrastructure to facilitate IHO’s operational services related to the activities in technical standardization and inter-regional coordination of the IHO. An IHO-KHOA Technical Coordination Board, composed of their representatives, has been set up to monitor the progress of projects.

We are certain the services will be of great use to the IHO Member States. Mr. Lee was hopeful the Arrangement would build the foundation for the IHO to lead international standards in hydrography.
