IHO Category B Hydrographic Survey Programme

The IHO Category B Hydrographic Survey Programme is scheduled to take place from 12 July to 30 November 2018 at KHOA, Busan, Republic of Korea (ROK), initiated with an opening ceremony on 12 July.


The aim of the Programme is to train and equip participants with the knowledge, practical competencies and skills necessary to support the planning, data processing and analysis of hydrographic surveys confidently and effectively. The Programme was recognized as “Category B” by the FIG-IHO-ICA International Board on Standards of Competence for Hydrographic Surveyors and Nautical Cartographers (IBSC) in March 2017. It is run by the Capacity Building Fund of the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) sponsored by the ROK.


It is attended by twelve participants from ten different countries: Colombia, Cyprus, Fiji, Georgia, Jamaica, Philippines (2), ROK (2), Russia, Tunisia, and Uruguay. The participants will be taught on various aspects of hydrographic survey, from theoretical and scientific studies to practical work on planning a survey, operating equipment, creating survey products and many more.
